Let’s be honest, you’re not just here for the golf. You’re here for that view. And maybe the bragging rights.
Welcome to the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course: a place where fairways flirt with the forest, elk roam like they own the place (they kinda do), and the biggest distraction on the course is the scenery. And that’s saying something, because the golf is pretty incredible too.
The legendary 18-hole course, redesigned by Stanley Thompson in the 1920s, is pure Canadian golf glory. Think glacial lakes, mountain backdrops, and a little par-3 called Devil’s Cauldron, a hole so dramatic it has its own fan club. It’s golf, but make it majestic.
Pressed for time? Or just want to sneak in a few cheeky holes before cocktails? Tunnel Nine is your move. This 9-hole course, added in the ’80s, is a local favourite. Casual, beautiful, and perfect for getting your swing back without committing your whole afternoon.
Along the way, don’t be surprised if you meet a few furry spectators. Elk, deer, and the occasional bear (from a very respectful distance) are known to crash tee time. It’s Banff, after all. Wildlife comes standard.
Once you’ve crushed your round—or your ego—Stanley’s Clubhouse is ready with cold drinks, hot snacks, and one of the best patios in Banff. The only thing better than the food is the post-game storytelling (embellishment encouraged).
And yes, there’s a Pro Shop, stocked with everything from sleek gear to wildly fun golf attire. Need serious clubs? Got ’em. Want golf pants with flamingos? Also yes.
Whether you’re here for the challenge, the views, or the post-round patio glow, golfing at Banff Springs is the kind of experience that makes your group chat jealous.
