The Ancestors Are Talking

A Once-in-a-Generation Exhibition Lands in Banff

The Ancestors Are Talking – Paintings by the Indigenous Seven is not just an art exhibition. It’s a cultural moment. It’s history in the making.

From May 2 to October 19, The Whyte will host the most significant showcase of Indigenous art in Canada this year. Curated by Joseph M. Sánchez—the last living member of the Indigenous Group of Seven—this exhibition is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to witness the revolutionary work of Indigenous artists who rewrote the rules of Canadian art.

You’ll see paintings that have rarely, if ever, been displayed in public. You’ll hear stories that challenge everything you thought you knew about art, history, and culture. And you’ll get the chance to be part of a legacy that continues to shape the artistic world today.

Opening Night: May 2, 7–9 p.m. at The Whyte | Ticketed Event – Details TBD
Exhibition Runs: May 3 – October 19, 2025 | Free for guests of Rimrock Banff
